What Is Sociopathy?
Sociopathy refers to a pattern of traits marked by a disregard for others' feelings, a lack of empathy, and a tendency toward impulsive or boundary-pushing behavior. Researchers often describe it through three core traits: boldness (staying calm and even seeking out risk in situations others find threatening), meanness (a lack of empathy and disdain for others' feelings), and disinhibition (acting on impulse without regard for consequences). These traits exist on a spectrum. Most people show some degree of each, and it is the combination and intensity that shapes how a person moves through relationships, work, and daily decisions. Understanding where you fall on these dimensions is a meaningful step toward making sense of recurring patterns in how you relate to others.
About This Assessment
This assessment is designed for adults who want to better understand how boldness, meanness, and disinhibition may be showing up in their thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. It asks 45 questions across these three traits and classifies your results into one of four categories, from Non-Sociopath to Severe Sociopath, based on how closely your responses match each profile. This tool is not a clinical diagnosis. Sociopathy and related conditions, such as antisocial personality disorder, can only be diagnosed by a qualified mental health professional through a full clinical evaluation. This assessment is an educational resource intended to promote self-awareness and informed reflection. If your results raise concerns, either about yourself or about someone in your life, we encourage you to speak with a qualified mental health professional.
